Adventure time!

So today I kept the kids home from school for a "free day". While the kids were playing I thought what is something I can do to get their imaginations going. Then it came to me.... TREASURE HUNT! So I busted out the crayons and constuction paper and made them a little map of the backyard and gave some simple instructions

Then instead of just giving them a plan ol' picnic lunch I made that the treasure.

Now you can make your teasure whatever you like; toys, snacks, crayons and paper, etc. Also you can make your map go father than just the backyard such as going to the park or if you have older kids around the neighborhood. I see so many kids that are consumed by video games and cartoons, it's time for us as parents to get them going. When I was a kid we used to play outside all day until mom made us come inside. Even though times have changed it doesn't mean we can't be proactive with our children So I hope you enjoy this small activity with your children and maybe come up with a few of your own.
